Term Definition
AbsorbA message usually seen during combat when a player, mob or NPC has an ability, power, or buff on them that can absorb damage from a melee, power or spell attack.
 
Aggro'Aggro' is a term that MMORPG's have spawned to mean having a mob focus its attention on a given player. In team situations whichever member of the team is getting attacked directly by the mob is said to 'have Aggro'.
 
BuffBuff refers to a temporary beneficial effect placed on a player by a spell or any sort of item. Buffs can range in effect from simple personal shields to buffs which augment almost every category of stats a given player may have. 
 
CampingThe act of sitting and waiting for a monster, item or NPC to spawn, usually in order to kill them for experience, items or credits.
 
DOTShort for: Damage Over Time
 
KITingKilling In Transit - Killing a monster by staying out of its reach while harming it. Usually done by slowing the monster down, and/or increasing your own speed, and either using attacks with better range than the monster's, or DOT effects. Also called Kiting, describing the action of pulling the monster after you like a kite.
 
MMORPGShort for: Masive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game
 
MobMonsters that share a common name with several others rather than having a unique name or title, are non-friendly, are non-interactive, and/or exist solely for the purpose of being killed. These are the main aspect of PvM, and are found throughout the game world.

 

 
MonsterAny creature or NPC that is hostile to your character.
 
Nano CrystalContains a nano program which you can upload to your program storage.
 
NCUShort for: Nano Controlling Units
 
NPCA Non-Player Character (NPC) is any character you encounter and interact within game world that is not controlled by other human players.
 
PerkGreat addition to both character progression and combat in Anarchy Online. Perk(s) are basically stat modifications and special abilities that will materialise both as "buffs" and special attacks, and some of those special attacks should be executed in strings between the different professions for maximum impact, enhancing the tactical aspects of team combat.
 
PetAn NPC under the control of a player character.
 
PvMShort for Player versus Monster
 
PvPShort for Player versus Player.
 
TankA character with a high ability to take a beating, and often the ability to taunt the enemy into ignoring others. Used as a human shield for others in combat, Tank = Meatshield.
 
TwinkTwink is a character or player outfited with items or other resources that are not normally available to a character of that level.
 
TwinkingTwinking refers to outfitting a new character or player with items or other resources that are not normally available to a character of that level.
